Remember this a time when the iPhone had only just been announced and the SDK was over a year away.

The idea behind the mobile aspect to project title, ‘Mosaic’, was to explore the potential of mobile content in this genre. The games were developed using Flash Lite 2.0, Actionscript 2.0, and package using SWF2GO, this enabled the project to run as application with an installation process and icon etc. The games took advantage of phones hardware, and were able to use vibration and sound to react to the players input.

Due to the theme of the alternate reality game which was espionage, the mobile games involved solving puzzles, decoding encryptions. The player input included using the joystick for control or button bashing with the number pad, at the end of each game user was given code a to enter online to help piece together clues in order to uncover a conspiracy narrative.

This project formed part of, ‘Ruled by Secrecy’ for which in July ’07 I awarded a D&AD New Blood Award. Over the weekend I had some time to film the project and below is some rough footage.
